while sailing
Verify that the fuel aboard suffices for your trip both ways,
adding a reserve of fuel for possible unforeseen events.
Verify that your towing accessories are in order.
While sailing check whether the single open valve to the water
is the one for cooling the motor.
Verify the functioning of the bilge-pump.
Carry aboard spare parts for the motor as well as a tool kit.
Carry aboard a spare anchor.
Check whether the boat carries a pair of oars, reserve mooring
cables, a safety belt for all individuals present, a life vessel,
emergency-flares.
Check the power of the batteries and the functioning of the board-radio
if present.
Verify that there is enough drinking water aboard.
Inform your family or friends of the projected route, including
the projected time of departure and arrival.
Turn off the motor and use oars whenever reaching the limit of
300 m from shore or in zones where swimmers are present.
Do not carry more persons aboard than the number indicitaed as
the maximum capacity for the vessel, and distribute well the weight
aboard.
Beware of objects/persons floating under the surface and modify
your speed and direction accordingly within 100 m of distance.
